I am working one something.

 I know I haven't posted in a bit. Just wanted to mention that I am actually painting some miniatures I've just net been in a rush to get them done. 
Might have some time to put into them on Saturday evening into the late hours during the DnD game. They are getting closer and closer to done. 

I've had no desire to do any drawings or flat paintings. I feel like I should be working on that kind of stuff but have had no motivation at all. I'm sure it will come back around at some point. Just have to wait it out.

 I'm not much for naming things as it turns out.  

My wife challenged me to turn the last black and white picture into a painting. ( See previous post. ) She thought it would look good in color. So here we are. 

The original scan is much larger. I reduced it to about a third or so of the size for this post. 


If this wasn't bad enough here's the wip pictures.

at this stage in the work I had very very low expectations. I sat here and said, I hate this picture. 

No reason not to press on.

The water is starting to look interesting.

I really like how the snow was coming together.

How about the other shore line. Getting somewhere now.

Flesh tones came out well, not bad just a bit more to do.

The fre on the torch seems to work Fire's never easy to paint.

I think it's too bright and will have to darken it down some who, kinda managed to do that if you can tell from the top picture. Darkind down the water and used a black wash Transparent smoke black airbrush paint.  Extra light from my lamp make this look brighter than it is.

Not too bad I guess.

This was done mostly with Apple Barrel and Folk Art brand craft paint, a little bit of ink added for flesh tones and just a little airbrush paint. Work time was about 5 days a few hours in the evenings and maybe a whole day at the end to wrap it up. Well sort of. There's still room for more when it comes to me.

This is the DnD party from the biweekly game.
No pencil only ink. Loads of fun to do.

Ink over pencil and improvement.

I've been drawing again and these were done over the last two or three months.

I do hope to go back and redo a few of these, as you can see, are very rough.

But I have been improving quite a lot.

These are pictures for my Brothers story. It's a neat bit of fantasy and black powder mixed together.

The face is not even close to what it should look like yet.

This concept was kicked back and that's fair.

I was just looking for an interesting style for the character but it doesn't fit.

Same character as above. I am trying to get the picture done and cheating a little bit just to do it.
She'll need another attempt or two but I'll figure it out.

At first I was trying to draw a dragon but I think it's more of a gargoyle

Still very rough. character placement and size. 

Next one should be larger which will sort this out.

This one was really tricky. 

I really like the floor and background a lot.

This one really came a long way! 

I feel like this really tells a story.

I ran this through a filter just as proof of concept.

Also filtered but maybe two or three times to get the FXs. 

I've been struggling with this project and am finally starting to get some traction the last two pictures I have done have come a long way from the first picture in this post. 

I'm working with ink a lot now and have just moved over to non photo blue pencils which I like but there is a learning curve.

Spiky Bitz, for one, has been known to use peoples pictures without permission and that is completely cancerous behavior.  I am shocked that they keep getting away with it. 
I have no expectation of such theft but I did want to make my feelings on the matter known so no one could say I didn't make it know. 

 

The Magnificent Mansion

 In the last session Harlan finally had an opportunity to cast Magnificent Mansion.

The description was clumsy but this is what I had envisioned.

As the huge door opens inward you see a long hall with a long serving table centered in the hall and you hear music. some where in the distance, "We've only just begun..."  The table is difficult to accurately describe it's either a marble top or it's a gold leaf but it looks mostly like your first impression.  On the table is a large bowl filled with fruits. Further down the table is a craft full of liquid next to several goblets made from pewter. And a few mundane hand towels. Along the left and right side of the hall are curtains made from a cloth with a sheen in the light, the seem to be a light blue or a bit green even a light yellow depending on where the light hits them. above the table are several chandlers that have hits of a mirrored service inlaid, they radiate light into the hall. 
There is a stair case at the far end that goes up t the second floor but there is a rope crossing the end of the banister as if to say do not cross. the steps are possible marble again much like the table. 
Any walls you might see look to be the color of carnival glass. On the second floor there are several doors which look to be the color of hammered gold and silver that catch the light. As you pull back the curtains you see piles of large pillows and several blankets of different thicknesses and textures each curtain pulled back creates it's own alcove space like a small room. a globe hangs from an ornate chain in each alcove. It radiates light that is not bright but also not dim. 
Each space reveals a myriad of objects beds tables chair standing tubs for bathing mirrors.
You are told use what you like and if your space does not have what you are looking for the pull the curtains around in there until you find what you want. If you want the lights out just say so and they will go out slowly. Oh, and the servants will be around shortly with  food, which will be in the covered dishes on the table. enjoy. If you wish for privacy pull your curtain closed it's as good as a locked door. Please don't bother the up stairs or any other door, just ask if you need anything else. 

The meals provided would have been smoked beef with vegetables and grilled fish. there would be water tea, red wine served hot with mulling spices or served cold and hard cyder upon request. And loves of bread as well as flat breads with a verity of jams made from berries and spreads as well as butter. 

Conferrable clothing would also be provided for the evening upon request.

The evening passed mostly uneventfully and we left refreshed the next day. 

This is what I would have liked to describe but failed to articulate.

The sign is kinda funny, the mansion is a bit of a timeshare.

I really have to read up on that spell and make sure I'm not going overboard some where.
I like the idea that you just can't tell the color of things because of the magic and your own expectations.

Like the meme about the dress from the internet several years back.
