A short post about todays game.

At least it was over fairly quickly... My forces were tabled in 3 rounds.
I had a plan to focus on my secondary objectives and deployed very poorly. What can I say I don't play enough to be more than a filthy casual at this point.
My opponent brought a lot of Sisters of Battle walkers with lots of fire power and Anti tank.
His models move and fire with not negatives to hit and the seem to move very fast.
My dice were unkind to me as well which hurt a little. In 3 turns I managed to score R.O.D. twice and score line breaker twice as well. I held no objectives after turn 1 and fought pointless fights that earned me nothing. My plan was to keep my units together and have a moving fire base while avoiding throwing models away needlessly. That fell apart on turn 1 due to my poor deployment and his good shooting.

I've taken a few pictures to share just to prove I made it out for a game.

I do look forward to playing again but I really want to play my Imperial Guard.

Playing Primaris exclusively for a Space Marine army has given me a new found respect for First Borne Marines, who I see as simply superiors given the number of options they have that Primaris still do not.
I for one would be thrilled to have Primaris Sgt's weapons swaps and upgrades be free to the unit, baked in to the base unit cost. Mostly because they seem to be completely irrelevant when it comes to actual game play. No matter what you give them it just does not matter.  I models a bunch this year and all they do right now it look neat, beyond that essentially nothing. I get it, I've backslid into casual play while my opponents have not and that doesn't help me.
Before this gets any more negative I'll stop.
Enjoy the pictures!

I took my terrain out to the shop. People seem to really like it. Shop terrain is very hit or miss and bringing this much has really improved the game for me.

Pictures of deployment.
I deployed very poorly. I should have deployed much further to my right to protect my everything from shooting. It's a mater of turns and timing.

The Sisters deployed mostly in/from their corner.
My opponents forces are surprisingly fast on foot.

Sisters deployment.

Amies deployed.

Late in the game, turn two.
My deepstrikes have arrived.
This has stuck in my mind as a bit of a bad play.
My Inceptors split their shooting between the Penitent engines nd a squad of sisters infantry, slaying all the the infantry. I began to think I would have been better off dumping all their plasma into the penitent engines and attempting a charge against the sisters infantry taking them way into the back corner via the charge.

More thoughts and lessons about 9th, as illustrated by this combat.

This combat was completely pointless for me.
The saint had killed off my unit of Eradicators and my flank was undefended. I felt the saint would roll my whole flank so I decided to throw two heroes at her to put her down.

The big thing is fighting this fight was not worth my time or trouble. Killing this hero gave me nothing, Being tied up in combat for any length of time gives me nothing. It's just throwing resources away.

So I guess if my army is meant to be mobile then I need to stay focused.
I wanted to work on playing my secondary objectives to hold up my score.
More on this again when it comes to me.

Speaking of secondaries.
I managed to score R.O.D. only twice. Again further "smart making" er.. planning will help.
I planned to use my reivers were meant to score R.O.D. for me. I should have set them in deep strike and let them start scoring that on turn two and not turn one.
I also scored line breaker twice once for 4 points then finally for 2 on turn 3.
I do like that one unit can score both R.O.D. and line breaker.
Sadly I never managed to score Peirce the veil. I should maybe have taken more of a risk and have chosen a different psyker secondary. Psychic Interrogation may well have been much better.

Pictures from the end of the game.

Sisters held their right all game with no pushback.

Anyway, thanks for reading.
I'm happy I made it out for a game. Hopefully things go better next time.
