Last Post for 2014!

ARRRRG! in all capital letters!
On Sunday I thought I was done with the Slugga boys and on to the Shoota boys!...Then I found a tray I had set aside with more Slugga boys in it!
Not a huge amount of models but easily 10 or more.
Looks like the joke was on me.
After finding those I started looking through a Red GW case. Lots more to do in there.
Here's 136 slugga boys. so far.

Happy New Year!

I hope you all have had a very marry Christmas!
I am now finishing up the last 43 Slugga boys. still need to paint the teef''s. (..or is it toof's.. )
The box top of Orks on foot grows smaller and I'm really happy about that!

Unscheduled post.

Where to start. Ah! Here we go. We have finally sold the house in Tennessee and as of to day are out of Debt. Well, we still have some small bills just like everyone else but No more House Notes!
It's been hard to focus on anything. So much Stress and then so much happiness.

As for my Studio painting I am still working although not much this week. The good news is 4 more Slugga boys need skin and then I will shortly be on to everything not slugga boy.
It's a slower pace this week but this was in a way expected.

I have begun to plan out next year. My friend has asked me to teach him to paint. He has painted off and on for years but never had a natural knack for it. I am hoping that we can set up a painting group that meats every other month. I am trying to decide how best to tech him and how to help him get the most out of anything I try to teach him. I'm shooting for a nice table top quality miniature as our goal.
He's a gamer first and foremost. I will be very pleased for him to paint his own army for a change.
I will be looking through my old White Dwarf issues for painting articles to help build my "classes"
At this point I am worried that it sounds like I am some kind of expert painter guru kinda guy.
Nar Boss I'm Just a Ork...Orkin it up!

And on the terrain front, I am looking to expand my Jungle scenery this year and am very excited about it!  This year I am planning to add some Lava! and some very tall grass rows.  I am excited to expand the diversity of my Jungle.

Gaming.
I am hopeful for 10 games this year and 10 battle reports!
WAAAAGH GorGak! is on the war path and pushing further into an imperial held system....
Excitement!   Battle!   Loot!

Thanks for reading!
Marry Christmas!

Happy holiday schedule.

Just a few things this week. I have managed yet another 30 models painted to the 8 color wip I have shown before..several times before...
It's been a busy week and of that 30 I relly only managed 15 this week. I had a head start on the other 15 from the week before. I will add a model count so we can see how many models are this far along.
I think we have about 60 more slugga boys to go. then the shoota boys and nobs and..well everything else.

My count come to 92 painted to the 8 color wip.

Lastly for today.
This is the last scheduled post for the year.
I will still be working on the project but in low gear, like half days or day on day off.
Lots of family and Holiday activities this time of year.

Happy holidays and Merry Christmas !
We'll be Back!

Thank you for reading!

Extra post. 12/08/2014

In my last post I mentioned doing some work around the house for our outside critters.
And I am pleased to say it's more or less done and I am back on schedule with the Orks.
This weeks Ork post will be a little different then the few before.

I thought I would share a video of the work I have been up to this week outside.

Here are a few more pictures.

More Ork Boys. Picture added 12/05/2014

Getting back into the swing of things. I have 15 more ork boys up to the 8 color level and 15 more all "Skinned up" and ready for "clothing" We've had some outdoor critter issues around the homestead and I have to get it sorted out.
I expect it to take a dew days. So I will be working through the weekend as I can.
Household 6 has set this a our priority. (and rightly so.)
Our Home Blog! And all the gory details.
Not to worry I am only 25 models off from the first hundred. Reaching that number way my goal for the week but I am sure I can get them sorted out by Sunday, sooner if I am lucky!

Where's waldo...

And some last notes for this week.
Sloppy painting!
I've noticed some of my painting looking sloppy. Mostly and so far only where the skin of these boys is concerned. My Jade green has been just off this week. I guess I have felt rushed, so many Orks so little time! So last night I spent the evening with the Foul Green, the lightest color used in the Ork skin. I went back over these lase 15 Ork Boys I mentioned above touching up their muscles ans layering up the ..Over brushed areas.
(Left) Before. (Right) After.
They look so much better now.
I do play to recheck all the Orks before I am done but I have been reading about sloppy painters and bad or maybe underwhelming paint jobs and it's really got me focused on doing my beastly best.
I think some painters or ?studios? forget that it's their name and reputation on every project.
While I'm only a studio of one I am trying to remember to do my best.

Thanks for reading. More Madness again Next week.

Happy Holiday brake 2014 part one.

Not a lot of painting this week. Another 20 Boys done on Tuesday evening. Things pick up again Next Monday. That just means I am doing a little here and there on the Ork Project but not setting any goals to hit this week. Looks like I have 15 more boys in the box to paint and then I bring in the next box full of Ork Boys! Not to worry I'm sure I will be Knee Deep in Deff Koptas soon!

Pictures in the Next post! Happy Thanksgiving everyone and thank you for reading.

It's gunna hurt but we're gunna do it!

So here we are again!

Top down. good colors, Still wip.
Models should look good from a top down pov.
A youtuber had some thoughts about that and a consistent paint job. Sounds good to me.

Models are blocked in and will get more paint near the end of all the infantry.
As well as, rumor has it.., Muddy bases!

Sanguinebase T-Shirts

Rucksack tan t-shirts!

Figuring out the Hair-Squig colors.

A slightly darker brown/tan T-Shirt.
I like the red. Much Brighter then my usual Dark red look. A little more "Happy"
More evil Sunz less Goff.

Skin's coming out well.
Still wip.

Teef. Nice and toofy.

Progress is steady. Slow but with results and steady. 30 boys painted to this level so far. Still wip. Much more to do. But a good solid ,Now I know what I'm doing , start.
I don't usually paint like this. These are much further along then my usual factory paint method.
My next batch will be 60 boys. But their progress will be a little slower, this will let me get into a few other different models throughout the next weeks.
I like to tackle the "hardest parts of a project first. So loads of infantry are the toughest part due to model count.

More mayhem to come!

It puts the paint on the Ork where it's told or it get da hose again!

The Ork Project has begun! This is the start of an interesting and challenging project. My returning client has sent me his OrK collection to paint and it's no small task.
I remain confident I can and will "geterdone" in a very timely manner.
Now. Let me say My client is a very strong painter. No really. I don't know who he learned from, and I really need to ask, but he's no slouch. ( Slouch. That's a good word. You never hear that one anymore...)

So the task is to try and match his paint style. Not the task he has asked me to take on, not exactly.
He sent some models as examples! And I am very impressed! He sent me some pictures of his Tau and again. Impressive! I thought it was important to explain that he sets the standard when it comes to this kind o project.

See! he even painted the stones on the base!

It's taken a little bit to get the right colors. I think I have a close match for the colors he used for
( His) orks skin!
But this is what I have come up with so far.
Again his nob
My test model and his nob.

And I'm now at 10 Ork boys with skin very close to
the same as the Nob.
The three colors I am using are.
Scurvy Green - Game Color
Jade Green - Game Color
Foul Green - Game Color
(In that order)
I'm sure to use a few washes as well.

These are still wip and took a little time to do.
Now that I can see where I am trying to go I think I can get there fairly quickly.

So, I hope your all as excited to see how this turns out!
I know I'm happy and excited to get stuck in!

Thanks for looking!
