Holidays update 1

More Work in progress.
I have been working on my Ork bikers over the last few evenings the bikes are coming out nicely the bikers are slowly coming along but I am not in a rush.
A friend of mine announced that his Space Marine battle company plays at exactly 3000 points and I am going to try to get my Orks ready for a game of that size. I have well more then 3000 points so it's all about getting the last few painted and a list put down on paper. I really want to try something dirty, like 12 troops.
We will have to plan a day and time next year for such a big game.

This week I am still building tomb blades 5 built and 10 more to go. But it's only Monday. I will update this before I publish on Wednesday. With more pictures.
Here are a few for starters.

It's Thursday today. Sorry for not posting yesterday I had stuff with the Family going on and that seems to officially Start the Studio Holidays. I don't know what I will have time to do but we are at a stop until next year. Any post or work is not planned or scheduled until next year.
Their may be a post or some pictures put up but we wont know until it happens.

Happy holidays and Marry Christmas !
( Well not today, but you know the day of and all that...)

Stating the New format. Necron update no pictures

So here it is. I expect this to resemble failure until I have gotten the hang of this blogging idea I am working on. And with that...

 This may be my only post this week. I have some work around the house to do, Have to help get ready for Thanksgiving.
As of 1100 all barges are built and ready for primer. I have skipped building the lords for now and have build all the shooting options. I am going to see if I can get a few tomb blades started they are smaller miniatures but this will be the first time I have build these and I want to avoid messing up.
To Mr. E, I did get your last email I have been a little busy. I will have a list/ update for you next week But i don't know what day yet. I will shoot for Wednesday.  You mentioned objective markers how large would be too large of a base size? I have some ideas.
I have some home projects starting in December and will still fit in some painting but these projects have to be done. so I expect December to be a short month as far as painting and updates.

More Next week. Thanks for reading and being patient with my lack of pictures. They will be forth coming!

I am going to be changing some things around.

I have decided I like the way I update my weekend projects and want to start to do that same daily update style for my commission work and Ebay projects. (Coming in 2014)
In addition to that I like the way Goat Boy dose his "things I have painted this week" post on ?Friday?
These are changes that will be more positive for me and help track my work in all it's stages.
For me that means at least 1 to 2 posts a day. Posting at lunch and updating again in the evening around 1700 hours. give or take. The exceptions will be days where I am simply not here to do anything or anything of note. For you this means more to read and a few more pictures to look at.
The next projected post will be on Wednesday. Unless I think of something completely brilliant that i just have to say.... Or so bad I can't keep it to myself...
Thanks for looking.

Weekend project 3.

Nothing fancy on the table this weekend. Just doing Ork vehicle repair and basing the killa kans.
As way of an Ork update let me say I am excited that I might have the Battle wagon built in a way that I like. that kit has quickly become a do or die. The amount of glue and frustration.....
The "Half tracks" are rebuilt as well! and my pile of plasticard has arrived this last week!

A picture or two later.

Sorry for the bad picture. I don't like flash and at this stage the Dred is just black, brown and a little red. just sprayed and dabd on. But it is on a base now. textures later. as well as metallic's.

I really like the way the Battle Wagon is finally coming out!
Just a big ugly gun on tracks and wheels!. Nothing fancy.
And sufficiently brutal!

More on Sunday.
Thanks for looking!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Killa Kans and Da' Dred this morning.
I had to let paint dry overnight, between the base coat and the first layer of red applied before the first coat had dried. But more red was added but not as much and the Kans have had their first round of Bolt Gun Metal.

This manner of painting looks really bad at first. As I start to add the next few colors it will start to clean things up and look more like the final product. I don't like overly clean Orks . All of their equipment should look salvaged.

Pictures this evening.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Evening Pictures!

Killa Kans! with grotzookas made from a "science lab" kit.

Deff Dred! Klaws from the battle wagon kit.

Plastic sign was used for the hood and roof of the wagon as well as the windshield.
I have more to do but now it is taking shape.

Still thinking about a front mounted cannon.
I am also going to read up on what happens if the vehicle doesn't have a weapon at all.
I think this is where we are stopping.
Thanks for looking!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Battle wagon nearly done!

Ok the hard part is nearly done. I will have to put some paint on it and get it scratched up a little.
Also the kanon still fits on the hood! right between the driver and VC.

Just started planning my next one. Not a 5 ton!

Funtivities update!

This last week I have been clipping Necron Kits for assembly. I have two thirds of the kits ready for cleaning and assembly right now. All the ark's are ready for paint and the Tryarch Stalkers are half way through assembly. I am going to paint all of their weapons options. These will be left for my Client to choose how he want's them. I will be painting the arks and the Necrons that they carry separate as well as the doomsday cannons on their own as well. My progress felt a little slow until today. Having all of these kits clipped out is progress. Assembly speed will pick up. The first round took about two months and the 15th of November will have been one month with this lot of models. Despite my Holiday Scheduled I plan to continue to work on into December.
I will be adding pictures here as progress is made.

For myself I plan to try for a home game at some point latter this month. It could very well be the last game for the year.
I am on the fence about which army I want to sell next. I am thinking about my Steel Legion and also my Space Wolves. Mostly because the money would help with a little bill I recently got. Also because my workshop is very full. I decided to keep the Orks after all. I will be parting with some of them but only those models I don't want to paint or that I just have no reason to have, they will be sold to pay for Ork vehicles and aircraft.

Pictures to follow.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Update
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I was going to start assembling the Tryarch Stalkers today but I hit a speed bump.
During my assembly prep I glued some parts together in the wrong order. Ruining the bodies that the legs fit into.
So now that I have put that out their , let me tell you what I have done to correct that.
I found a bitz store on ebay and ordered replacement parts.
Simple as that. I got lucky. the parts cam in around $14.00 for everything I needed.
Now I just have to wait for them to arrive.
It sucks. But the best thing to do was just man up and do the right thing. I would expect the same if I were paying for a service.
I paid the stupid tax and I am thankful that it didn't cost more money. But lessen learned.

Progress was slow today I did manage to clean all the flash form the tomb spyder parts and have started cleaning the command barges as well.
I hope that tomorrow will be a productive day. I don't want to sound all gloom and doom.
Sorry if that's how it sounds.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Assembling doom scyths today. barges on Monday as well as any more scyths not finished today.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The Tryarch Stalker bodies arrived today. all the parts and some extra .
Assembly slated for Monday.

Happy weekend!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

As of today all the Syths are assembled as are the Stalkers!
Didn't get pictures yet will be working on command barges and Spyders the rest of the week till complete and plan to get pictures at that time.

Ork related post, back in krack!

Hello I think I have been gone for a very long time. I was worried I had tried this before but I can't find a thread I may have started. At any rate that would have been a few years ago.

 So let me get started. I hate the GW Battle wagon. Their I said it, it's out in the open. This is just one of the things that I am going to be "fixin' this time around. Like all good stories mine is going to start with the "classic"  So, what had happened was" ... GW was releasing the battle wagon and I was excited. A little too excited and I got 4 of um'.
Only it was weedy and small. and looks like a minivan.. So I chopped up the one I was building and made the front a head for my stomps, like everyone else I would imagine.

I fell way out of love with da orkz. I got sick of the codex rewarding army builds that had basically no orks in it.
Sure I like to win but I would rather have a good fight too.
And I cant very well sell them now. I started my orks in 3rd edition and that was like...what 98 or 99 that that codex was out. I really liked that codex, I will admit that it had issues. some of the mobz in the current codex would have been fantastic in the last codex.
My preferred tactic was walk up behind the wall of kanz. KFF and loads of boyz. I am not much into speed freak lists.

 In 6th so far I have used the orks one time. I wrote a bad list and the game was effectively lost in 3 turns.
 All my fault that it didn't take me longer to loose. Don't take that the wrong way, it isn't derogatory towards the codex. My opponent plays brutal armies and I had a few disadvantages like not enough games of 6th under my belt.
The thing is I just miss my orks. They were a blast to play and were hard to beat. So what am I doing about it now?
A few things. first I am going to change how I play ..no how I build my lists and stop fighting the current. So my plan is biker nobz. not brilliant is it. But I want them to be fairly unique not on paper but built for Style.
 I am also looking at ways to make my army as psychotic as I can and have started to look at blitz bombers as an option. Again not amazing but they could be any of the three builds, I am planning to have at least 4 when I am done. I have a lot of ideas today and I hope I can make them happen.
So this is the end of the first post and pictures will follow very soon. to day or this weekend. I have a lot going on, sort of. I think I will also drop an army list in once I have started to draw up the list of mobz and other units I want to use and cook it down from their. So more very soon.

Among other things today, I have managed to build 3 cybork biker nobz.
 Not very good but I kinda like them. I used ork bikes, storm boys jump packs and nob parts.

Heres a look.

Don't take this as a sign of  being done with my commission work. I am still Cronning it up.
Project Ork is an evening sport.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Came up with a way to build my Kannons! Still working it all out.

And "Da Dok iz IN!
A new spin on da Dok.
Mad Dok Grotsnik gives all or any Ork unit the Cybork body upgrade.
All the best parts of fabious bile and Commissar yarrik. (SP?)

Spiky back! so no huggz..

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Battle wagon tryout.

Half track?

5ton.

For size comparison

An open letter to GW.
Dear GW,
Please cut the hands from the Battle wagon design team and blind them as well.
A concerned ork player.

The problem is scale. It's all wrong.
The Ork truk is fantastic. all sorts of details and it looks like a 5 ton. And good job on that too.
The Battle Wagon on the other hand looks like they wanted to make a semi truck and armour it up.
And then stopped half way through.

The Battle wagon needs to be wider and longer a little taller wouldn't hurt either.

That would set a better scale. The difference in size between a semi truck and a 5 ton.
Or the battle wagon is fine and the truck is too large.
This could also be the case. However, as the truck is the orks basic transport option it seems more realistic that the Battle Wagon is to small. This might be corrected by a track the full length of the Wagon.
Forge World has a full track sort of truck. I think it's simply called a Big track.
The next time I get to Hobby Lobby I will see if I can find a suitable 1/35 scale tracked vehicle to use.
I would really like to have a battle wagon. That feels right.

Short weekend project Part 1 & 2

This pack leader will be the short weekend project.
I have much to do and only a few days. Monday begins the new wave of Necrons!

This vengeance weapons battery will get in where it fits in.
The base coar was started with my Airbrush but finished with a wide flat brush and watered down paint. 2 or 3 very thin coats.

Next week "The games begin" ! again!
I have roughly 30 days to put a huge dent into the enormous volume of  Necron miniatures that arrived this week.
Stay tuned for more pictures!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
First 2 steps
Primer with opaque black let dry.
Next base coat in thinned Coal Black.
I keep a botle pre mixed left over from and for this army.

Step 3 zenith spray Troll blood blue.
A Zenith spray will leave a area of the Coal Black much like a shadow at 1200 noon.
Let dry.

Step 4 wash miniature.
I use a blue/black wash I made based on APJ Less's recipe.
Found on his blog and on Dakka Dakka.

Next I just start to add the other colors to base cote the face and weapons but it's brush painting from here on out. Well, until it's time to paint the base.

The base will be painted scorched brown the the skills will be painted bleached bone.
Agter that their will be a "over spray of brown over the base and on to his legs but all bellow the knees. after that grey will be sprayed in the same way.

I will get back to those steps when I get their and add pictures.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Next update here+

I use Magenta ink on both the plasma weapon and his skin.
The ink catches all the detail and is used like a wash but skin is reapplied and shaded .
Leaving little of the ink seen in the crevices.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
More painting!

Things are coming right along now!
His skin tones , the black around his eyes and Yellow pupils.
Even a rough blond color for hair!

But ....

By this time I had gotten out more inks.
A dark burnt umber. Washed onto the pelt, fur and tails.
Then found it's way to his hair.
His mighty power sword. I couldn't find the next lighter silver I wanted to use. I did have some Neon Yellow on my pallet still.
So I cross hatched this onto his sword!
Kinda cool.
I have also lightly black washed his base.
More again shortly.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
A short weekend project part 2

So the last project was done way too fast and I kept feeling like I should have planned more wolfie work.
So I though lets do it again!

Heres what we have to start with this time.

I finished up last night with what I regard as the easy parts done.

The black to brake up the armor color.

Still have a small amount of "easy work" to do.
The bases.
I wish I had more bases cast, like the others my wolf guard are on but they did not turn out I think the plastic chemicals were kept too long.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Not much in the way of pictures left over from yesterday.

I did find these two that I built last time around.
Maybe they will get done this time.

I really like the way the plasma has come out.
A few more pictures to day and we will just have to see if I get them all done or not.
If not then theirs always next time.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I decided to call it quits earlier then planned today.
Which is fine. So as far as I felt like going this weekend.

Every one of them, all ten, are as far along as these.
Still a little way to go.
Stay tuned!
